Labrador Flag Day is a meaningful occasion that brings communities together to honour everything that makes Labrador distinct. The flag, officially recognized in 1974 and designed in 1973 by Michael S. Martin, reflects the natural environment and enduring spirit of Labradorians:

Held every March, the Winter Carnival is one of Labrador West’s most anticipated events - a two-week celebration that brings the community together to embrace the beauty and fun of winter.

The Labrador Loppet is an annual cross-country ski and snowshoe event held every March, welcoming participants of all ages and skill levels to embrace the beauty of winter in Labrador. Hosted by the Menihek Nordic Ski Club, the Loppet features a range of race categories all set against the stunning backdrop of Labrador’s snowy wilderness.

Smokey Big Weekend marks the unofficial end-of-season celebration at Smokey Mountain - a lively long weekend packed with events on the slopes and in the lodge for all ages.
Over four days, the mountain comes alive with races, games, music, and food, all leading up to the much-loved Slush Cup, where costumed skiers and snowboarders attempt to skim across an icy pool at the base of the hill.
While the ski season continues as long as snow conditions allow, Smokey Big Weekend is the biggest celebration of the year - a true highlight as winter turns to spring, with warmer weather and great snow making it the perfect time to enjoy the slopes.
The Iron City Duathlon is an annual biking and running event. Celebrating its 21st year in 2025, the race continues to draw nearly 150 participants of all ages. Competitors can race solo or as part of a team, combining fitness, fun, and community spirit. With exciting prizes and a festive atmosphere, the duathlon has become a much-anticipated tradition - whether you're a seasoned pro or a first-time participant.

Held at Jean Lake in Wabush, the Lab West Regatta is a vibrant summer event that brings the community together to celebrate friendly competition, local tradition, and outdoor fun.
The regatta features rowing teams of four plus a coxswain, competing in a range of race categories including men’s, women’s, and co-ed. Spectators can gather along the shoreline to cheer on the rowers and enjoy a lively day at the lake.

Pride Week in Labrador West is a vibrant celebration of 2SLGBTQIA+ pride, visibility, and community. Held each year with a full week of activities, it brings people together to honour diversity, promote inclusion, and celebrate love in all its forms.
The week is packed with events for all ages, including flag raisings across the community, guest appearances by drag performers, and storytime and craft sessions that offer a fun and inclusive space for families. A colourful Pride Parade winds through town, spreading joy and visibility, and the celebrations also include a welcoming church service that embraces love, unity, and acceptance.
