Gateway Labrador

Gateway Labrador is a beautiful log structure situated at 1365 Route 500, Nichols-Adam Highway, Labrador City in scenic Western Labrador.  It officially opened its doors to visitors on June 28, 2003.  Gateway Labrador is home to Labrador Rose Boutique, Labrador West Visitor Information Center and the Edmund Montague Exhibit Hall.

Our museum, The Edmund Montague Exhibit Hall, which has on display many artifacts representing Labrador West and the entire Labrador region - its history, culture and people. As well, the hall showcases the fur trading and mining history of Labrador.

Gateway Labrador RV Park

We are pleased to announce that, this summer,  Gateway Labrador will be constructing a Short Term (7 days or less) Campgrounds for visitors to Labrador West. Our fully serviced lots behind our museum will offer a traditional camping experience while putting you mere minutes from all local ameneties.

Each RV Site will have a 30 AMP electrical hookup, fresh potable water, fire pit (depending on fire regulations), and an RV Dumping Site at our facility.   We will be offering nightly site rentals, with prices to be announced at a later date.  Check Back Soon!

During the Canada Day Long Weekend, The Great Canadian Life Project team hosted the Spirit of Labrador Cultural Celebrations.

Ela Kinowska and Peter Sobierjki of Elpio Productions are talking to Canadians and asking for opinions on what Canada means to them.  It’s all part of the Canada 150 celebrations and all done from the comfort of the official Canada 150 red couch! 

The Great Canadian Life Project landed on top of old Smokey with Smokey’s Big Weekend.  This weekend was filled with music and dance as Smokey Mountain, Gateway Labrador and the communities of Labrador West welcomed DJ Savory to the stage for 2 nights of hot music in the cool north of Labrador.

Gateway Labrador and the White Wolf Snowmobile Club welcomed Iain Hayden to Labrador West as part of The Great Canadian Life Project.

Music to Cope Inuit Drumming and Throat Singing - March 18th and 19th local youth partook in a wonderful cultural event that will benefit themselves and the community for years to come. 

What an amazing weekend for The Great Canadian Life Project!  All weekend long, the Town of Wabush hosted a variety of indoor recreation activities for families and friends to come together to celebrate Canada 150!
